Sorry for any Confusion

Before (above)

After (above)

Just to clear up any confusion about my 2 sets of chairs from my last post. (thanks for all the comments everyone.)

The set that most of you seem to be in favour of have actually already been "made over". I painted them and recovered them, and like Tracey (Porchlight Interiors), I think they contrast well with the white table. I must admit I really love this set of chairs. The only problem with them is that the seat, although comfy, is rather small and I don't want any overhang, lol . (sorry if that conjured up an unpleasant visual for any one!)

If I decide to sell these it will be on ebay (Mel, I'll give you a heads up when I list them ;-))

I have posted before and after images just so the difference can be seen.

Q is for Quandry

Supposed to be selling these (above).

I am about ready to toss a coin just so I can get a good nights sleep...I simply can't decide whether to hang on to the dining chairs that I bought with the intention of making over and keeping for home.......or.......keeping the chairs that I bought with the intention of making over and selling. These have turned out better than I had imagined and I love the way they look around the table.....but....they are not nearly as comfortable as the other set. Maybe I should just wait until I have painted and reupholstered both lots of chairs and then make my decision.

I guess if that's the hardest decision in my life at the moment, I should be very thankful!

It is so lovely to be receiving comments from such lovely ladies. Can someone please tell me when the euphoria of getting a new comment or a new follower will subside????

It Was Nice While it Lasted...

I surprised my eldest daughter with a room makeover for her 12th birthday this year. She was very happy with the result but I have to say that it hasn't looked the same since that day. I am so glad I took photos. My darling daughter is a chip off the proverbial block, rather arty, very creative and, consequently, has several projects on the go at any given time. The consequence of this (and a lack of suitable work space), is a not so tidy bedroom.

"I Can Dream Can't I?"

Having lived in and enjoyed a 100 year old villa early on in our married life, I can certainly appreciate the sense of space these wonderful old buidings afford, with the wonderful high ceilings and over-sized bedrooms. If we ever have the opportunity to build (again) I would most certianly include these features in my new home but with the convenience and practicality of modern, low maintenance materials.
These images, again courtesy of http://www.newzealandhouseandgarden.co.nz/ , article called Lovely Bones - Devonport Villa, keep that dream alive....one day it will happen, I will have my dream home!

"If I Were a Rich (wo)Man..."

As well as this blog being a record of my own home and ideas, it is a place for me to post images that I have come across that inspire me to keep creating. I have some beautiful images courtesy of New Zealand House and Garden magazine to share today. It makes me truly proud to be a kiwi when I see what fellow New Zealanders have achieved as they express themselves through their homes and gardens....just delightful. This first lot of pics is taken from an article entitled French Fusion in Dunedin. I could so be happy in this home. It is modern and classic, timeless and up to the minute....love it!
I am still learning how to do a hyperlink but the full story can be found on http://www.newzealandhouseandgarden.co.nz/

Enjoy!

Being Creative...

It has been such a busy week what with my usual typing work, getting ready for a garage sale and to top it all off, 4 out of the 5 of us falling ill with a tummy bug (had all 3 kids home from school on Friday).
During the sorting out of what to sell vs what to keep, I came across some art that I had done whilst surviving our looooong 2 years in Wagga Wagga , (what can I say, I'm a city girl).
Funny story about the picture above the bed there. It came crashing down on top of us in the wee small hours one night, gave us one heck of a fright! While this piece was still being created in my mind , I searched through Bunnings looking for some sort of material to use and came across this plastic that is used by plumbers for something or other....it suited the purpose beautifully.

The large picture of the urn was made by projecting the image up onto the canvas using a lamp and then drawing around the shadow it cast.
The trio of koru were painted during an episode of intense homesickness (I'll always be a kiwi). I used tiling adhesive to give texture.
The fleur de lis is done using a stencil and some textural "stuff" I bought from an art shop.
I have many more ideas in my head that I would love to get onto canvas but there just aren't enough hours in the day at the moment.

Bergere Chairs

I am very much anticipating getting stuck into these chairs, (there are 2 identical chairs). I was lucky enough to purchase them for an absolute BARGAIN off ebay from a lovely lady here on the Gold Coast. Turns out she is an interior designer and had bought these overseas, I guess with the intention of having them upholstered. She was having a clean out before moving into her new home and just wanted to off load them....lucky me. They already had black primer on them so I painted one of them a green/grey colour that I am particularly fond of. However I am having second thoughts now. I think I will find some fabric first and then choose the paint. I have a project book for my chair up ideas and my inspiration page for the bergere chairs shows some examples of how great they can look. I haven't actually upholstered anything from the bare frame before so am looking forward to the challenge.
