Clock Update

Just a quick post while hubby is off with the kids doing the grocery shopping, (he loves it, I hate it - works well).
After I posted about this clock that I was planning to make-over, I had a few commenters saying I should leave it as is. I agree it's a lovely clock with loads of character, but I am going for a more pared back, clean look.

Which is why it looks like this now....

I used wooden letters from Spotlight and large (okay huge) upholstery nailhead.

Please excuse the fact that you can see the hanging rope of the frame. Haven't got around to fixing that yet.

Another little project from this week....this is before

.....and this is after

The shade is definitely not staying. It's just a spare I had lying around.

When I read your blog, I thought, yes I'd leave it that way until I saw your after picture, then I thought what a creative lovely piece you created. The frame around it, is so clever. I also have a corner just like you so I am now thinking of changing it. Thanks for your inspiring post.

Great makeovers Ange. I really like the clock's new look! And I'm a sucker for any lamp makeover.
You asked if I found slipcovers more difficult than upholstery. That's the 64 million dollar question. You know with upholstrery you have to sew a lot of pieces together before you put them on the furniture anyway. But you pull it all tight and staple it to the bottom. Looks great! Right?
With the slips, they have to fit perfectly, and there's so much fitting and re-fitting. I would still rather do that than deal with removing the old fabric and all of those staples! LOL

Ange I had to read the first couple of lines of your post about 6 times - MOTH would rather have all his toenails pulled out with a rusty pair of pliers than go supermarket shopping! Fab job with the clock, it's a winner.
