Stripes or florals???

I don't know how decorators do it, making these sorts of decisions every day, I don't think I'd ever sleep!....
I recently got these cane chairs from ebay (3 for $30) and my intention is to paint them white (no,, really?!) and reupholster the cushions. I love that the chairs have wooden arms. Which fabric do you like (if any) or any opinions as to what would look great? I am leaning towards the black/white stripe.
As with most of my purchases, these were bought with the intention of re selling but I reckon I'll find them hard to part with once I've finished with them.

Ange, These chairs are really cute! Love the wood fronts! I don't think I have ever seen any like this...I'm leaning towards the black stripe as well. The floral gives it a softer look.. If you keep them.. How about a slip cover of each style.. Then you could change it when the mood strikes. Oh gosh.. I don't think I would be able to part with them either!

I also love the stripes you painted in your Sons room! LOL on the treadmill! I can relate! Boys are so funny! I think most could sleep on a rock if we let them!

Thanks so much for the well wishes & the opinion on the table! I value your opinion! Everything you do turns out so pretty! Hopefully someone at the paint store can help me get the color right. I need to get started on that before the weather turns too cold here!

Hope you have a great week! Blessings ~ Teresa

Great chairs! I painted the wicker chairs I have white - hand brushed them none the less! I think you will love them white. I am leaning toward the stripe fabric as well, but you know me, I am a lover of lighter, more muted colors. Could you use the reverse side of the fabric or tea stain it to give it more of a vintage feel?! Just an idea :)

you said, "i reckon"!!!! how funny...i didn't know australians say "i reckon"...is that odd that i just wrote that...well...thanks for the comment. i like the black and white stripes idea because it's neutral...you could put any color with it for various seasons and holidays...you could also do a large floral with it...it would be cute to paint them white like you mentioned, black and white cushions and then have various pillows to go on them for extra cushion and support...just my thoughts...many blessings!!!

I think painting them white with the black and white stripe cushion would look really timeless and work with so many things. Nice find!

Yep, paint them white for sure. I did mine the easy way - spray paint. I used a yellow/white striped fabric. Check the link here to see how good the chair looks in white: http://theaandsami.blogspot.com/2009/08/summer-chairs.html
Looking forward to seeing your chair after pics
